Rosie as you remember her
There are so many stories that make up a life, and some of Mom's belong to you.
Perhaps she made you laugh, offered a word of encouragement, shared a meal with you, or simply left an impression you never forgot. Whether your memory is big or small, funny or tender, we would love to hear it.
This space is for the people who knew and loved Mom, to share the moments, stories and words that help tell the story of who she was.
Take a moment to tell us about the Rosie you knew. Share a favorite memory, something she once said, a lesson she taught you, or simply what you loved about her.
Maria, Rosie was my friend and co-worker at the pharmacy.
She was a lovely and caring person. I remember asking how she kept such a flat stomach. She replied I do a hundred sit-ups. Lol
I love you and you WILL BE MISSED .. 🙏😘😢
Johanna, Rosie was my childhood friend mom.
Rosie was my childhood best friend's mom. The Guru mom. Always found a way to keep us all entertained to play together no matter the age everyone had to be included.. she will forever hold a place in my heart. Miss you Rosie
Ines, Rosie was my friend and Son's mother in law.
What a Beautiful Story behind all these words! I can just feel all the Love that was given and she gave to others. Sharing Grandchildren with Rosie was one of the best experiences we had together. We worried together😂( in a very dramatic way) I still have the text from when she could not reach John or Nani for a couple of days and she texted me, I became the investigator for both of us. She loved them as much as I did. Such a sweet, soft spoken woman. She was the quiet grandma and I’m the loud one but we both loved our Grandbabies! It was a privilege to know and share family. Until we see you again, because we will, I will be here for our babies, You just dance and keep Smiling in the sky, My friend❤️💐 Forever in our Hearts
Nani, Rosie was my Mom.
She taught me to be resourceful, ask questions, and hold others in high regard. She taught me to give without expecting to receive. I will never forget everything she sacrificed to care for all of us. She was my Mama ❤️
Lisa Solano, Rosie was my Dearest friend since high school.
My fondest memories of Rosie goes back to our first year or two of high school. We would try and meet up on the B-54 in the mornings on our way to school. We got on the bus at different stops along Myrtle Avenue. I remember sitting on the bus and noticing that Rosie was doing her pitman stenography homework. She was struggling with it, and I offered to help. I wrote the outlines for her in her stenopad, trying to match her style of writing. I helped her in this way a few times, whenever she needed to catch up. Rosie chose to start a family early in life, and I married a year after my graduation from high school. We each had full lives and didn't see each other often. But throughout the years we always stayed in touch and were able to see each other now and then, always talking on the phone every month or two. What a dear and true friend Rosie was to me. Always kind, thoughtful and genuinely caring. No matter the hardships she was going through, Rosie always took time to ask me how I was doing and how my family was. She was strong and I admired her. I was fortunate to have her as my friend. I will miss you my dear, dear friend. May you rest in peace, Rosie. Thank you for being a part of my life. You are missed. ❤️❤️
Anthony, Rosie was my Co-worker/Friend 😢.
I worked with Rosie for many years, and after our time together at the pharmacy, we unexpectedly remained close friends. While I know none of us are here forever, memories endure—and I will never let ours fade or live in me. Rosie, you are a true gem. As I was reading the story of her life, things really hit me. Composure got the best of me. I want to say to her children: you all did an awesome job in keeping her wishes. Please don’t feel any regret about stepping away from traditional norms—this is exactly how she wanted it (smile). I am gladdened that she was honored so beautifully, even as I hurt that I didn’t get to give her one last hug. On a lighter note to the children: can any of you replicate that incredible liver dish she used to make? (And please don't all say "eww" at once!) Yes, I happen to love liver, and she made an awesome dish of it. I still remember when she made lunch for us at the pharmacy—I absolutely couldn’t get enough. I’m just putting this out into the universe: you have my number, so help me out! I wouldn’t even come close to duplicating it on my own.
Angelica Rosa, Rosie was my Mother-in-law.
Rosie was my mother-in-law, but she never treated me like just a daughter-in-law. She treated me like her own daughter, and she loved my children as if they were her own grandchildren.
Rosie was truly one of the kindest women I have ever known. To find another woman with a heart like hers would be like finding a precious pearl in the middle of the ocean. She was that rare.
She was always so warm and welcoming. She was a wonderful listener, never judgmental, and always made me feel comfortable just being myself. She would often tell me how much she loved the kids and me, and how happy she was that we were part of James’s life. She had a way of making you feel loved, accepted, and appreciated without ever having to try.
She was everything a woman could hope for in a mother-in-law, and so much more.
One of my favorite memories of Rosie was making sancocho for her. That was always her number one request! Whenever we spent time together, she would ask me to make her some soup. It’s funny how something as simple as making someone their favorite meal can become such a precious memory.
I miss sitting on the edge of her bed, just talking about life and listening to her sweet little chuckles in between our conversations. Those were such simple moments, but looking back now, they meant so much. Rosie accepted me exactly as I was, and for that, I will always be grateful.
Rosie also shared a special bond with my daughter. When my daughter was younger, Rosie would babysit her, take her along to doctor’s appointments, and spend time with her even when she had so many other things going on. My daughter, who is now 17, still remembers Rosie introducing her to Starbucks when she was little. It’s such a sweet memory that she still carries with her today.
And then there were the random packages in the mail! Rosie loved sending little trinkets and thoughtful surprises to the kids, to James, and to me. Sometimes there was no special occasion at all. That’s just who Rosie was. She thought of people, and she found little ways to let them know they were loved.
She also made the best bacon and rice! And I always loved her taste in pink and antique things because we shared such similar tastes. It was another little thing that made me feel connected to her.
There are so many things I could say about Rosie, and even as I write this, I can’t help but cry.
I wish I had more time with her. More conversations, more laughter, more opportunities to cook for her, and more moments just sitting beside her. I only had the privilege of having Rosie in my life for seven short years, but those seven years were such a blessing.
Sometimes people can be in your life for decades and never make you feel the love that someone else can give you in just a few years. That’s the kind of woman Rosie was. She didn’t need a lifetime to make you feel like family.
And Mama Rosie, if there’s one thing I wish I could tell you, it’s that you are still remembered, even by the littlest ones.
Ezra and Gemma still remember you. Even though they’re so young, they remember getting on that airplane to visit you in Florida. They remember you, Mama Rosie. I hope somehow you knew just how much you meant to all of us.
Thank you for loving me, for loving my children, and for always making me feel like I belonged. Thank you for the kindness, the laughter, the conversations, the little gifts, and the beautiful memories.
I wish I could have known you longer, but I will forever be grateful that I got to know you at all.
To have known Rosie was to have experienced a very special kind of love. And to have been loved by her was truly a blessing.
I love you, Mama Rosie. I miss you more than words can say. You will always have a special place in my heart. ❤️

Esther Rodriguez, Rosie was my friend.
I first met Rosie when we both worked at the pharmacy, we got along well and our friendship flourished. She worked hard and because of that I was happy when she was there, I knew it was going to be a good day. Our boss was not always on time sometimes running 30 minutes to an hour late. This was hard waiting on those terribly cold winter mornings. Rosie’s place was my haven since she lived close. I was always welcomed and her hospitality was so gracious. She would make coffee to warm up and sometimes hot cereal. She was always a loving and generous person.
Rebecca Cruz, Rosie was my Aunt.

My condolences 🕊. God bless. I will always remember her smiles, everything she did was always with love. Fascinated by home decorations, how patient she was with her children. She taught me how to make lasagna. It was fun and yummy. She was supportive (on advice, hug) when I was sick with asthma. God's gift to us all.
Evelyn Casiano, Rosie was my Listener to my broken heart whenever I needed her..
I met Rosie in 1993, we worked together at Walmart, we have been friends since then, and she has been a true friend since then,I can’t even imagine the great times we’ve had, my heart is so broken not able to call and talk even if it was only a few minutes, I will always honor and remember the most precious moment she did for me, It was Rosie who brought me to church where I felt the most felt experience of my life I found God in his word and I owe that to her because that was 18 years ago, today I’m still serving God she won a soul to the Lord and I will always remember her for that invitation, Rosie you will forever be in my heart my friend, and I know that you walked into the gates of heaven, I will see there where we will be rejoicing together. I love 💗 you Rosie

Esther Rodriguez, Rosie was my Friend and Colleague.
This memory makes me think about how intelligent and funny my coworker Rosie was and how much I laughed when around her. One day Rosie and I were on the Long Island Railroad (New York commuter train) going to visit a friend. We were surrounded by tons of people in which we as brown women stood out. Not sure who started it, I will say Rosie 😆, but we started taking about that day at work. Smiling and confident we started mentioning both brand and generic names for medication, one I remember we mentioned was “hydrochlorothiazide”( water pill). I know for a fact people listening to our conversation were probably wondering how two brown women could speak with such knowledge and confidence. We were having fun but that was Rosie in real life. She was intelligent, resourceful, and confident. It was wonderful working with her and learning from her.
Maria Iris Valentin, Rosie was my Friend and Sister for a lifetime.
The Osmond Brothers concert Madison Square Garden. The song sung by their sister Marie Paper Rose and we always went shopping for socks to match her outfits We sharded many memories thru out our 50 plus years of friendship.
Orlando E., Rosie was my Friend.
Rosie, I'll never forget the laughs we shared. The moments where you allowed me into your life and family and accepted me. You were always so kind hearted. You passionately expressed your values and beliefs out to the world and always encouraged people to be themselves. I hope for a peaceful rest. Much love.
Jose Antonio Rosa Jr., Rosie was my Sister-in-law.
Don't know where to begin; Rosie was more than a friend, she was kind, intelligent, wise, fearless, independent, loving, understanding, loyal, faithful and full of grace, and she had the most adorable giggle, I will truly miss not having her among the living, but she will live eternally among her friends and family. I'll see you when it's my turn my friend, love aways.
