Ways to Honor Rosie

The sweetest way to honor Mom is to carry a little bit of her into the world.

Choose something below that makes you smile, think of her while you do it, and know that somewhere, someone else may be doing the very same thing.

Wear Silly Socks — When Mom began dialysis, fun socks became part of her routine. They were conversation starters and a little way for her lighthearted, silly personality to shine. Wear your brightest, funniest pair in her honor.

Do Something Kind — Mom had a heart of gold and carries kindness wherever she goes. Honor her by doing one unexpected act of kindness for someone else. Big or small—it all counts.

Wear Something Light Pink — Light pink wass Mom's favorite color. Add a little pink to your day in her honor—a shirt, scarf, nail color, flower, ribbon, anything.

Bring Home Gardenias — Gardenias have always been one of Mom's favorite flowers, especially because of their beautiful fragrance. Bring some home, plant one, or simply stop and smell one when you find it.

Play a Game of Scrabble — Mom was the undefeated Scrabble queen of her household. Gather around a table, pull out the Scrabble board and play a game in her honor. And if you don't know how to spell something? Go get the dictionary. 😂

Make an Ordinary Day Special — Buy someone a tiny surprise. Decorate the dinner table for no reason. Slip a note into someone's bag. Give a child a chocolate coin and call it their “Rainy Day Fund.” Mom had a way of making ordinary moments feel special. Do the same for someone you love.

Gather Around the Table — Have dinner together. Put the phones away. Ask everyone, “How was your day?” Stay awhile. Talk. Laugh.

Take a Long Walk — Mom loved walking, especially during her years in New York. Take a walk in her honor. No destination necessary. Enjoy being outside, notice what's around you and give yourself some time to think.

Make Christmas a Little More Beautiful — For Mom, Christmas was special, and she could decorate a Christmas tree like nobody else. During the holidays, hang an extra ornament, add a little more ribbon, turn on the lights and make something beautiful in her honor.

Return Tupperware Full - One of Mom's rules was to never return tupperware empty. She told us "You received food in this. It's right to return it that way". Return tupperware with cookies, fresh fruit, or your favorite snack inside. It's a simple and thoughtful way to say thanks.
